Our Harbour & Tide calendar is back for a second year, and 2027 is another love letter to life by the sea in Margate.
Every month is illustrated by our own Jane Horgan, whose pencil drawings capture the things we love doing most as the year turns. A New Year's Day dip to start things off, then winter beach walks, wine and small plates, gallery days and ice cream every day. Fish and chips on the steps in June, Margate Pride in July and a good dose of Resting Beach Face in August. Then the sunrise swim, coffee mornings at Giant and a post sauna plunge to see the year out.
For the swimmers, every day has a high and a low tide time, picked to fall within swimming hours so planning a dip is easy. Low tide is perfect for Walpole Bay Tidal Pool, while high tide is best for swimming straight off the beach. The times are based on Margate tides and work for most of Thanet too. Full moons, solstices, equinoxes and UK bank holidays are all marked, with space for notes at the bottom of every month.
The opening page shares our favourite places to eat, drink, swim and explore, from Margate's bars, cafés and bakeries to the bays of Ramsgate and Broadstairs, with a QR code linking to our full guide.
